Visit to the West Balkans 

10–12.2.2013
Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter travelled to the West Balkans to meet the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of Serbia. He visited other projects supported by the FDFA in the region.

 Southeast Asia trip

Federal Councillor Burkhalter took part in the inauguration of the Swiss Embassy in Myanmar. In Laos, he attended the Asia-Europe Summit. He participated in the Bali Democracy Forum before travelling to Thailand for a regional conference of ambassadors.

 Visit to Africa

11–14.10.2012
Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter paid a working visit to Burundi and Egypt. He visited Swiss international cooperation projects and also held bilateral talks. Mr Burkhalter took part in the ministerial conference of Francophonie in Kinshasa.

 State visit of the Polish President

The Federal Council received Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski on the occasion of a State Visit to Switzerland.

 67th UN General Assembly: High Level Week

Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, represented Switzerland during the High Level Week at the 67th UN General Assembly in New York.

 Visit by Ban Ki-moon

The Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon paid a two-day official visit to Switzerland to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Switzerland's membership of the UN.

 Aung San Suu Kyi to visit Switzerland

13–15.06.2012
The member and Secretary General of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi visited Switzerland from 13 to 15 June 2012. This was the first step of her tour through Europe for the Nobel Peace Prize and her first visit to the continent since 24 years.

 Nuclear Security Summit in South Korea

26–27.03.2012
Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter represented Switzerland at the 2nd Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul. He participated also in «Swiss Weeks in Seoul», an event marking the opening of the world fair, Expo 2012 Yeosu.
