Bilateral relations between Switzerland and the Seychelles
Bilateral relations between Switzerland and the Seychelles are modest in scope and primarily centre on tourism.
Switzerland maintains cordial diplomatic relations with the Seychelles. The Swiss Embassy in Nairobi (Kenya) is responsible for diplomatic matters.
The Seychelles are a popular holiday destination for the Swiss. Tourism is the main source of income for this group of islands off the east coast of Africa.
As at the end of 2011, 89 Swiss nationals were living in the Seychelles.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Switzerland and the Republic of the Seychelles signed an air transport agreement and an agreement on cultural and technical cooperation. Otherwise, exchanges between the two countries have always been limited.
