The Embassy of Switzerland and Delhi Public School Society are celebrating the year 2012 as the ‘Year of Indo-Swiss friendship’. Under this umbrella theme, a number of projects have been envisaged. The project was launched at the Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi on April 25, 2012. A workshop on Indo-Swiss bilateral relations and Switzerland was organized on the occasion. The Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi conducted ‘Destination Management Module’ workshops for students and faculty of Amity University, Noida on February 06, 08, 09 and 13, 2012. The workshops focussed on basic information on Switzerland, as well as tourism related aspects of the country.

Rezero is the name of a unique Ballbot which is currently developed by a team of thirteen students from Switzerland.The Focus-Project Team Ballbot consists of eight future mechanical engineers, studying at the ETH Zurich, two electrical engineers from the ZHAW and the Industrial Designers educated at ZHdK. Rezero was showcased on January 24, 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.

Ms. Frida Leon Béraud, a puppeteer and actress from Zürich, who specialises in doll-theatre was in India on a residency with her puppet Maria Gonzalez. During her stay Ms. Béraud conducted workshops with students in the age group of 9-11 years, and teachers from various schools on November 09 & 11, 2011. The workshops were focused on making of a glove puppet, introduction to the technique in glove puppetry and the development of a scene of Delhi street life.

As part of the third phase of the project 'Industrial site visits', select students from IISC, Bangalore visited Buhler India Pvt. Ltd. on October 18, 2011. The agenda covered brief overview of the company including introduction to company operations, synopsis of R&D activities, overview of business operations in South Asia, plant tour followed by interaction with management.

An industrial site visit was conducted on September 22, 2011 for students Sophia College in Mumbai to PRS Permacel. Agenda included: brief overview of the company with introduction to company operations, synopsis of R&D activities, CSR, environmental preservation activities, vocational training & career, guided tour of production facilities and QA lab, visit to R&D lab and product display of innovative products.

What better way than embarking on a delightful and mouth-watering journey of the culinary delights of Switzerland, with emphasis on the art of baking. A workshop was organised on August 24, 2011 in cooperation with Swiss Gourmessa on baking typical Swiss dishes, with select students and teachers from Amity International Schools.

A student exchange took place between students of Amity International Schools and Kantonsschule Wettingen, wherein 10 students from Amity International Schools visited Switzerland from the June 22 - July 01, 2011. Students from Kantonnschule Wettingen will be visiting India from October 02-14, 2011.

As part of the Destination Management Module at Kuoni Academy, wherein students are trained, in depth, on a particular destination, the Embassy conducted a ‘Train the trainer’ program with trainers from Kuoni Academy on the 09th of June, focus being on Switzerland. Trainers were given kits with information and promotional material on Switzerland, along with supporting didactic material designed by The Embassy. The aim is that the trained trainers will subsequently train diverse batches of students, on Switzerland, reaching out to a total of app. 300 plus students, in its pilot phase in Delhi. This training of the students took place from the 27th of June till the mid of July.

The swissnex network along with its Indian knowledge partner on multi-disciplinary research, Center for Study of Science Technology and Policy held the first workshop on " Current and future priority research areas in India" on July 15, 2011 in Bangalore. The focus of the workshop was to identify priority research topics in India, in particular topics requiring a multi-disciplinary approach.
