Announcements / Important information
  • As per 07.04.2014 the address of the VFS application centre in Mumbai has changed. New address:

Indian Residents from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry (UT), Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Andaman and Nicobar should submit their application to the Switzerland Visa Application Centre or to the Swiss Consulate in Mumbai.

Kindly note the following requirements:

  • Opening time: 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00, Monday to Friday;
  • For detailed information with regard to the Visa application process, documentation, requirement sheets, visa fee, etc., kindly contact the Switzerland Visa Application Centre (see also box on the right side of this page);
  • Please be informed that processing of a visa takes a minimum of five working days.
  • With effect from Monday, 28th November 2011, all agents / individuals / representatives who submit their applications at the VFS should make the payment either by cash or Demand Draft in favour of 'VFS GLOBAL SERVICES PVT. LTD'.

Applying for Visa at the Consulate of Switzerland

 
Please note that entry to the visa section of the Consulate is free and you are welcome to submit your visa application directly at the Consulate. In case you wish to do so, kindly note the following requirements:

  • Opening time: Monday to Friday; 08:30 - 11:30 am
  • You have to come personally to submit your visa application;
  • Passports submitted to the Consulate can be collected only after ten working days between 01:00 and 02:00 pm;
  • The Passport must contain at least two (2) blank pages and must have been issued within the previous ten (10) years. The passport has to be valid at least for three months beyond the date of return from the Schengen-area.
  • It is not possible to get the visa on the same day;
  • Children under the age of 18 travelling without their parents/guardians, should carry an authorisation letter signed by both parents/guardians allowing them to travel;
  • A travel/ medical insurance up to Euro 30’000.- is compulsory;
  • The visa application form is free - you can download it from this page or collect it from the Consulate.
  • Solvency proof: Family members of EU/EFTA States citizens (spouse, children (until 21 y.o.) and ascendants) are exempted from proving solvency.
  • As of July 15th, 2010, Indian nationals do not need an ''Airport Transit Visa'' (category A) for Switzerland. For all other nationals please contact this Consulate.
Emergencies
If you have to travel on emergency bases or humanitarian reasons urgently to Switzerland (i.e. medical emergencies, death of a close relative, etc.), our visa section may accelerate the processing time of applications. In order to evaluate your situation we ask you to fill out this form and to sign it. Please add if possible additional documents to prove your emergency situation. Our visa section is contacting you afterwards as fast as possible.
Visa fees

The visa fees have to be paid by Pay Order / DD in favour of ‘’Consulate General of Switzerland, Mumbai’’. Visa fees for all categories of visas, i.e. single, double, multiple entries or transit visa are:

  • Visas for family members of EU-, EFTA- or Swiss citizens are free of charge. Please provide a proof of relationship. Following persons are considered as family members: Spouse, registred partners, relatives in descending line of the EU- or Swiss citizen or his/her spouse who have not completed 21 years of age or are financially dependent of the Swiss/EU/EFTA family member, relatives in ascending line of the EU- or Swiss citizen or his/her spouse who are financially dependent of the Swiss/EU/EFTA family member. Financially dependent means: a regular and substantial financial support is given for daily living costs. Financial support on the occasion of a trip to Switzerland (board and lodging) alone is not sufficient. This financial dependency should be proven through bank transfers / transactions or money transfers, etc.
