Supporting Japan
Following the tragedy caused by the Great Tohoku Earthquake, the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan expresses its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the people and the government of Japan.
Switzerland enjoys strong and long-lasting friendly relations with Japan, stands by the people of Japan and will undertake its best efforts to support Japan at this difficult time. Many Swiss organizations, individuals, and companies have launched initiatives to help Japan (a few examples are provided below):
Rebuilding a destroyed hospital in Onagawa City (Miyagi Prefecture) as a nursing home with the support of the Swiss Red Cross, Swiss Solidarity and Caritas

Support initiatives of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ) and the Swiss Business Community
