What is swissnex Singapore?
Swissnex Singapore is a platform of the Swiss embassy bridging knowledge and competencies in science, education, art and innovation between Switzerland, Singapore and South-East Asia. It is a member of the Swiss Knowledge Network with outposts in Bangalore, Boston, San Francisco, Shanghai and Singapore. swissnex supports the international activities of Swiss institutions of higher learning, research institutes, as well as high-tech SMEs and start-ups in Singapore and the region. Furthermore, it acts as a promotional and bridging tool towards the Swiss education, research and innovation landscapes.

Why Singapore?
Singapore, through its commitment in the fields of education, research and entrepreneurship as well as its impressive public research funding, succeeded in building up a particularly favorable environment: state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-trained manpower, high standard legislation policies, numerous start-up creation incentives and excellent Asian networks.

Where is swissnex Singapore located?
This innovative platform is implemented in the heart of Biopolis, the landmark research and incubation centre in Singapore, comprising public and private research institutes (e.g. Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases), governmental offices, SMEs and start-ups. swissnex operates in synergy with academic, governmental and economic partners, as the first and highly visible foreign governmental structure.

How can partners take advantage of swissnex?
Swiss partners (institutions of higher learning, economic promoters, Swiss federal offices, technology monitors) may take advantage of the existing platform and dedicated networks by implementing a subsidiary of their activities at the swissnex Singapore, allowing to share networks and to work in synergy. As an example of such a long-term partnership, the University of St. Gallen and the Board of Higher Education, State of Vaud (DGES) have one representative based at swissnex.

What can swissnex do for its users?
Swissnex informs, coordinates, and provides a knowledge network of supporting services. It promotes partnering opportunities by organizing educational fairs, scientific symposia, exhibitions, workshops and panel discussions. Furthermore, it offers state-of-the-art working space to Swiss users seeking a short-term anchorage point in Singapore, in a low risk, low cost, and proximity effective environment.

How is swissnex financed?
Swissnex Singapore is a cost-effective, non-profit Swiss governmental bridging tool between Switzerland, Singapore and the region. The Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER) covered the start-up costs and takes over the running costs, as well as events core cost of this innovative platform. Private sponsors have a unique profiling opportunity during outstanding events showcasing Swiss excellence.
