The Embassy of Switzerland in Baku is pleased to inform that on 19 January 2009 it opened its visa section in its premises at Böyük Gala Street 9, Old City, Baku. The Embassy is responsible to issue entry visas for Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein to persons with residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan

Full set of documents required for getting visa can be submitted from Monday to Thursday, from 09:30 till 11:30 AM. Questions on visa issues are answered by telephone only from Monday to Thursday from 03:00 to 05:00 PM.


General Requirements

If you are holder of an Azerbaijan or Turkmen passport and wish to travel to Switzerland you need an Entry Visa. You find the information on how to apply and what requirements are necessary in the information sheets on this site, as well as the visa application form.

If you are holder of another passport please refer to the website of the Federal Office for Migration to find out wether you need a visa or not.


Types of Visa

Schengen Visa (C-Visa): Schengen visa are issued to people intendig to travel to Switzerland or to the other Schengen states for a duration of maximum 90 days per semester for the purpose of tourism, visit of relatives, business affairs, cultural events, medical treatments, trainings or courses, etc..

National Visa (D-Visa): The national visa are Non-Schengen visa and are issued to people wishing to take residence in Switzerland for longer term. Those applications have to be handed in at the Embassy of Switzerland, however the decision will be taken by the responsible Migration Office in Switzerland of the Canton you are wishing to stay. Please note that the procedure takes up to 8-10 weeks.

Russian Citizens

As of February 1st, 2011 a visa facilitation agreement between Switzerland and the Russian Federation is in force. Russian citizens are asked to contact this Embassy in order to know which documents are required for getting a visa.


Visa Processing Fee

Once the application has been submitted to the visa office the visa processing fee has to be paid cash in AZN. If the visa application is refused, the visa processing fee will not be reimbursed.

Adult visa processing fee: AZN 63.00 (equal to EUR 60.00)
Minors between 6 and 12: AZN 37.00 (equal to EUR 35.00)
Children between 0 and 5: Free of charge
Application for a national visa: normal visa processing fee plus AZN 5.00 postal fee
