According to the exchange of respective Notes between Georgia, the Russian Federation and Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland in Georgia has opened on March 5, 2009 its Russian Federation Interests Section.

Simultaneously, a Georgian Interests Section was opened by the Embassy of Switzerland in Moscow.

The formal denomination of the Interests Section for the Russian Federation in Tbilisi is "Embassy of Switzerland in Georgia, Russian Federation Interests Section".

The Russian Federation Interests Section has been set up in the premise of the former Embassy of the Russian Federation in Georgia.
