Scholarships

The Swiss Government offers university scholarships at Swiss Universities and Federal Institutes of Technology, or at Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) to several countries in Europe. Greece is included in this offer for the academic year 2010 - 2011. The scholarships concern students who are already in possession of a university diploma (postgraduates) and for the UAS, candidates with a bachelor degree at least, with the intention to follow their studies at a postgraduate level or to do research work in Switzerland. This year the scholarships are extended to art studies.

To know more about the conditions, please read the "Instructions for foreign applicants to a Swiss university or arts scholarship, academic year 2010-2011" which can be downloaded. The candidates for a scholarship have to contact the Swiss Embassy in Greece to get the forms to be filled in 3 specimens. The complete file has to be sent to the Embassy until 30 October 2009 (see Notice, paragraph 4). Applications received after this date or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Candidates already attending the first year of a Master Program in one of the Swiss Universities are not eligible for a Swiss Government Scholarship (except for Fine Arts Candidates). The Swiss Embassy will not take these applications into consideration.

The limit of age is 35 years when applying  (1 January 1975 and younger). 

Before applying for a scholarship, you will first need to find out whether the university you wish to attend actually offers the postgraduate course or field of research you are interested in. You should therefore contact the person in charge of the postgraduate course or a professor who can provide you with guidance on your research project. You will need to submit copies of your university degree (with transcript), a detailed study plan and curriculum vitae.

Candidates who submit their applications within the frame of a cooperation program between the academic institution (university, institute, laboratory, etc.) of their country of origin and an institution in Switzerland have a certain priority.
