Embassy Kiev

Current political situation

Dear Compatriots,

It is advised to defer all travels to the following regions: Crimean Peninsula, Kharkiv, Luhans’k, Dnipropetrovs’k, Donets’k, Zaporishzhya, Kherson et Odessa.

It is advised to defer all non-essential travels to Ukraine.

The security situation has worsened in Ukraine since February 18th, 2014. Violent clashes took place in Kyiv between the security forces and the demonstrators. Many persons were killed or injured. Demonstrations und unrests are also occurring in the regions. Despite an apparent appeasment since February 22nd, 2014, the situation remains very tensed in the whole country and the evolution is uncertain. It is not excluded that it might come again to violences and that restrictions in the food supplies, the telecommunication means or the freedom of movement might occur.

It is recommended to avoid areas where demonstrations take place and to closely follow the evolution of the situation through the media before and during your travel in Ukraine.

Contact the Embassy +380 44 281 61 28 or the Helpline of the FDFA in Berne +41 (0)800 24 7 365 in case you need assistance.
