Swiss Government Scholarships
For foreign students from a large number of countries, the Swiss government offers scholarships through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). The following web page of the State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER) provides an overview:

Swiss University Scholarships / Merit Scholarships
Various Swiss universities offer their own scholarships to international students. Please contact the university of your interest directly.
Some Swiss universities also offer merit scholarships. The list below provides detailed information.

EU Student Mobility Program / Vocational Training Program


ERASMUS Student Mobility Program

Within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), Switzerland is one of 32 countries participating in the ERASMUS student mobility program allowing their students to study up to one full academic year at a partner university. Normally incoming and outgoing students receive a monthly scholarship of 250 CHF.

Participating countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Principality of Liechtenstein, Rumania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey.

Students from the above-mentioned countries interested in an ERASMUS-exchange experience at a Swiss university may contact the study-abroad office of their local university.
LEONARDO DA VINCI Vocational Training Program
In the framework of the LEONARDO DA VINCI program, those involved in vocational education and training can apply for traineeships in Swiss institutions (mostly in private firms). The participating countries are the same as in the ERASMUS program.

U.S. Fulbright – Swiss Scholarship Program
The U.S. Fulbright – Swiss Scholarship Program offers scholarships to selected US students to study in Switzerland. Detailed information about the program can be found at the website.

Country Specific Information
The specifics of regional and bilateral student mobility programs and scholarships are determined by bilateral agreements. To learn more about the agreements between Switzerland and other countries regarding scholarship and student exchange programs please consult the website of your respective Swiss Embassy.
