Schengen Visa (for stays less than 90 days)

All Schengen visa applicants in our jurisdiction will have to apply in person at this Embassy in Washington D.C. This is due to the introduction of the biometric procedure in the Schengen area which includes the fingerprinting to register the biometric data of each applicant.

National (Type D) Visa (for stays more than 90 days)

Applications should be submitted by mail. However, if necessary, a personal interview might be required. 

Telephone hours:

Visa appointments can only be scheduled by phone at (202) 316-4010, Monday-Thursday between 2pm – 3pm (EST). No appointments will be scheduled by e-mail, at the counter or through another phone line. If you need to reschedule your appointment, you will need to call the appointment hotline.

 Official holidays

Visas cannot be processed on the same day. If you wish to have your passport/visa returned by mail after processing, please provide a prepaid self-addressed return envelope with a tracking number, indicating your name and address as both the sender and the recipient.

Please visit our website for requirements: incomplete files will not be accepted.

Payment options: exact cash or major credit cards are accepted. By mail, only a money order will be accepted.
