Applicants residing in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Delaware as well as applicants whose zip codes begin with the following first 3 digits
Virginia: 201, 217, 220-232
West Virginia: 254, 267, 268
are required to appear in person at the Embassy of Switzerland. Other applicants and persons residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and U.S. territories without Swiss representation (Guam and Saipan) can file applications by mail. However, if necessary, a personal interview might be required.
No appointment is needed. The Consular Section is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon, except holidays.
Visas cannot be processed on the same day. If you wish to have your passport/visa returned by mail after processing, please provide a prepaid self-addressed return envelope with a tracking number, indicating your name and address as both the sender and the recipient.

Payment options: cash or major credit cards are accepted. By mail, only a money order will be accepted.
