Combating Unfair Competition and Unfair Marketing Practices in Switzerland
The Swiss authorities are aware that some companies and individuals use Switzerland as a base for dubious business practices. Switzerland has no desire to be regarded as a “loophole” or “hideout” for criminals or companies and individuals misleading the public. Therefore Switzerland is implementing measures to prevent, find and prosecute individuals and companies engaged in such illegal practices.
Regrettably, companies and individuals with no relation to Switzerland sometimes use the word “Swiss” or images of the Swiss flag in an effort to associate themselves with the reputation of Swiss companies.

Switzerland enjoys an excellent reputation as an international business location. Many headquarters of international companies and organizations are based in Switzerland.
What are the Swiss authorities doing to counter those scams?
One of their tasks is to enforce the Swiss Fair Trading Act. In this context, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has taken legal action and launched criminal proceedings against several companies and individuals. Those cases are currently pending in court.
