Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus (WEE)

Switzerland has been successfully supporting women and their businesses in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan since 2017. In this final phase of the project, Switzerland aims to institutionalize gender-related policies at national and local levels, build the capacities of the governmental and non-governmental partners to continue promoting women's empowerment and encourage the private sector to support more women in the formal economy.


Allocation of SDC Funding (MENA Europe Division) in 2023 to ICRC Operations in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine

SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.

Regional Arts and Culture Project in the South Caucasus

By supporting documentary films, documentary theatre and photography as powerful tools of contemporary art, the project will challenge social stigma, promote inclusion and human rights through empowering the civil society, nurturing intercultural dialogue and regional cooperation in the South Caucasus.


Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus

In 2017, Switzerland embarked on a multi-donor project which laid a solid foundation for women’s economic empowerment in the South Caucasus, yet, further support is needed to fulfil women’s rights, which remain constrained by structural and cultural barriers. The Swiss-funded contribution will support capacity-building and provide technical assistance at institutions and policy level and, combined with activities at grassroots level, benefit at least 1’850 vulnerable women in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia

Dans les trois pays du Sud-Caucase (Arménie, Azerbaïdjan et Géorgie), de nombreuses femmes sont victimes de discriminations sur le marché du travail. Faute d’une politique égalitaire et créatrice d’emplois dans l’économie formelle, les femmes travaillent de manière informelle et ne sont donc pas protégées. Le projet “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus” entend favoriser l’autonomisation des femmes dans le secteur économique afin de faciliter leur entrée égalitaire sur le marché du travail ou dans l’auto-entrepreneuriat.

Dans l’agriculture moderne, il est indispensable de connaître l’origine des animaux et de récolter des informations sur leur santé pour éviter la propagation de maladies et empêcher la mise sur le marché de produits issus d’animaux malades. Un système de traçabilité contribuera à augmenter les revenus des agriculteurs du Caucase du Sud grâce à l’effet combiné d’une meilleure productivité des élevages et d’un meilleur accès aux marchés pour les produits.

Regional Art and Culture Programme in the South Caucasus

The present project promotes contemporary arts as an open and interactive platform that can display new perspectives and social mechanisms to the audience, and that can support and stimulate South Caucasian artists. It will be implemented by Georgian and international organizations and focuses on contemporary dance and experimental arts; small grants; arts for marginalised communities; and capacity building of arts and culture institutions.


Small Business Impact Fund, Phase II

The Small Business Impact Fund (SBIF) is a multi-donor initiative of the EBRD to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). SECO’s contribution to the SBIF aims to strengthen competitiveness and resilience of SMEs in Central Asia, North Africa and South Caucasus by providing business advice, skills development and financing.


Global Financial Infrastructure Programme, Phase II

The Global Financial Infrastructure Programme fosters financial inclusion of individuals and responsible access to finance for SMEs through financial infrastructure reforms in SECO and SDC partner countries. It focuses on strengthening credit information systems, secured transaction reforms, as well as insolvency and debt resolution.


Financial Management Umbrella Trust Fund

The Financial Management Umbrella Trust Fund brings together World Bank implemented programs under the three areas of i) Managing Public Finances, ii) Financial Reporting and Auditing and iii) Public-Private Sector Interface under one common governance structure, following the principles of the World Bank Groups Trust Fund Reform.


Medium Term Budget Planning Framework Azerbaijan

The engagemen supports Azerbaijan in making public spending more effective, predictable and sustainable. It will enhance capacity for macroeconomic planning, managing public investments, understanding debt sustainability and increasing transparency. The project capitalizes on SECO’s cooperation with the authorities on Financial Programming (FP).
