| Contexte |
The drawdown of the international presence will result in a decline in reliable, detailed and impartial information on the situation in Afghanistan, while political and security developments in Afghanistan and its region will inevitably continue to be a concern for the international community. In the short term, over the next few years, the need for independent quality research and briefings will not only grow, it will be indispensable for those stakeholders who want to stay engaged and for the growing number of educated Afghan women and men to engage in nation building and in shaping politics and social change. However, after decades of war and destruction, strengthening Afghan research capacity is a long-term endeavour and requires high-quality mentoring and training on-the-job for many years to come. Since the establishment of the Afghanistan Analysts Network (AAN), its research has been widely read and used by Afghan and international policy‐makers, journalists, analysts and academics. Its Afghan and international researchers are in high demand for media interviews, background briefings and as speakers at conferences, both in Kabul and internationally. At the same time, AAN aims to maintain a long‐term commitment to Afghanistan and to foster increasingly Afghan capacities in local languages as well as in English. |
