As of October 4th, 2017, interested students can apply for enrolment in the professional master programme at the Medical University of Albania. The deadline for applications is until October 20th, and the first class of 30 students will start the programme in November 2017.

“Health managers with leadership skills in economy and public health are yet rare in Albania, but very much needed like in all European countries faced with high health costs and scarce resources”, said Debora Kern, Head of Governance and Health at the Embassy of Switzerland.

The master’s degree is intended for those individuals who already are health managers or have a strong background in health, economy or public administration, but need specialized health management skills for career opportunities and advancement in health care system. Regional directorates, Ministries and agencies as well as hospitals, and other health institutions need to have properly trained professionals for efficient administration and management.

This professional master will have 11 subjects and be conducted jointly by the Faculty of Public Health and Faculty of Economy (FE) in University of Tirana.

Swiss experts from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute provided technical assistance for the teaching plan and methodologies, while the Department of Public Health (FM), Department of Management (FE) and the Health for All programme collaborated for its design. Most of the teaching will be provided by lecturers from both faculties, and Swiss TPH experts will offer their expertise throughout the course. All lecturers responsible for teaching were trained in Switzerland and Albania.
