A new Development Center for children with special needs was inaugurated today in Bulqiza, Albania. The Center can host up to twenty-five children who are in need of rehabilitation and development therapies.

A team of five professionals including physiotherapist and social workers are providing services to the ten - twelve children currently attending the Center.

The Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Switzerland in Albania, Mr. Philipp Keller, during the inauguration said: “Disabled children and youth in this town and surrounding villages can now find some treatment and support. On behalf of the Swiss government, I congratulate you all for this example of joint work and for improving services for Bulqiza citizens".

The centre is accessible for people with disabilities and creates an enabling environment for individual development and socialisation opportunities among those benefitting from services provided at the centre.

The center was constructed with funding by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) implemented by UNDP Albania. It is the third centre of this kind following the establishment of similar centres in Lushnje and Pogradec.
