On December 11th, 2018, the 2nd Advisory Board meeting of RisiAlbania took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Co-hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi and Swiss Ambassador Adrian Maître the meeting brought together academics, business owners, civil and youth organisations, and employment experts. They discussed on how to respond to the youth employment challenges for Albanian young women and men.

“Achievements of RisiAlbania project in partnership with the private sector, during the first phase between 2014 and 2017, are encouraging: it has created 1’000 new jobs, realized more than 5’000 job placements and improved the skills of almost 10’000 young people”, said Swiss Ambassador Adrian Maître.

“Youth employment is one of the Albanian Government’ priorities and it is important to see that your planned activities for 2019 will support young people’s employment, help them receive the right information and be equipped with the skills the labor market requires”- highlighted Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi.

Discussions focused on job creation, skills development, and job mediation which are thought of as particularly important for young women and men. In these three areas RisiAlbania has built some experience during its first phase when it introduced non-formal training, innovative business practices and media information services on jobs and employment.

In 2019 RisiAlbania will work with 80 partners, mainly from the private sector and plans to create 300 new jobs, secure 500 job placements, guide 2’000 young people, and train 700 others with the final goal of increasing employment numbers. Until 2021 RisiAlbania expects to create 1’600 additional direct jobs.

RisiAlbania is a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC and implemented by Helvetas and Partners Albania in cooperation with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office of the Albanian Government.
