Over 50 alumni of Swiss universities and hospitality schools gathered at the residence of Ambassador Philipp Stalder on June 1st 2017. The informal evening event was opened by a short speech of the host and followed by testimonials from three alumni. Together, they remembered their enjoyable time in Switzerland and praised the high level of education, the beautiful nature and the multicultural atmosphere at Swiss universities. The guests, mostly young people, spent a pleasant evening on the roof terrace while enjoying conversation with old friends and establishing new contacts. For the culinary comfort of the guests, the Embassy provided Swiss wine and vtraditional Raclette (Swiss cheese specialty) which brought  back many nice memories about Switzerland. Guests were also able to test their knowledge about Switzerland in a lucky Swiss Quiz.

Swiss education is for its high quality. Swiss universities regularly rank among the best worldwide attracting many international students. Over the last years, Switzerland has also developed into an attractive study destination for young people from Azerbaijan.

Among the numerous alumni attending our event, many specialties from various Swiss higher education institutions were represented. The most popular education among the guests was hospitality management which is not surprising considering that Switzerland is home to some of the best hospitality schools. Azerbaijan like Switzerland is home to beautiful nature and friendly people and has all the potential to become a popular tourist destination. Alumni of Swiss hospitality schools will be able to contribute to this goal by using their skills gained in Switzerland. Other popular fields of studies included economics, law and international relations and many alumni have found interesting and challenging jobs in the private and public sector.

The first edition of our alumni event was a great success and the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku would like to thank all participants having contributed to it. The Embassy will hold similar events in the future and you are invited to get information on our website (bku.vertretung@eda.admin.ch).
