AFIP Agroforestry Improvement Partnership

Projekt abgeschlossen

After almost 25 years of collaboration of SDC in the agro-forestry sector in Bangladesh, structures and processes for a sustainable functioning of the QPM development and distribution system are to a wide extent established. The center piece of the project, namely the nurseries, are commercially viable. The project self-assessment in 2009 confirmed that the time for a phasing-out of SOC's support until the end of 2012 is appropriate. Whereas the overall goal of the previous phases of AFIP to contribute to "sustainable well-being and resilience of poor and extreme poor households of rural Bangladesh through improved access to QPM and related income opportunities" keeps validity, the main orientation for the phasing out is given by consolidation measures which lead to a post-project situation, where roles and responsibilities are institutionalized and all QPIVI related functions are performed in a sustainable manner without further external/project support.
