Rupantar / Grassroots Women’s Leadership
Rupantar is one of the specialised NGOs for the pro-motion of pro-poor and especially women oriented development at grass root level in rural areas. With SDC support, it has developed an innovative institu-tional approach to empowering women and the poor by giving them a voice in community affairs. Women leaders and organisation are thereby enabled to pro-mote service delivery relevant for women. This ap-proach merits to be scaled up further. Moreover, the project is a relevant complement to the LGov portfolio, and to SDC gender equality mainstreaming. It contributes know-how on addressing key factors of women’s discrimination through concrete action at local level.
