The project aims at improving social dialogue and working conditions for workers by encouraging and supporting partnerships
between social partners as well as strengthening the environment for socially responsible behaviour of business organizations. The project is part of the partnership thematic fund in Bulgaria. Target groups

Government and social partners, employers and trade unions

  • Establishment of a Specialized Internet Portal (SIP); Creation of environment supporting the implementation of CSR and strengthening the transparency of socially responsible practices using Swiss expertise
  • Development and implementation in the National Institute for Conciliation and Arbitration of an information system for registration and analysis of collective labour disputes
  • Strengthening the capacity of social partners to exploit the opportunities of paritarian funds in Occupational safety and Health at Work (OSH)

Achieved results:  

  • Projects are ongoing in 6 municipalities (Burgas, Ruse, Sliven, Montana, Plovdiv and Shumen). They are well on track, even though there are some delays in the infrastructure activities in Sliven and Plovdiv
  • Seven adjacent smaller municipalities are also beneficiaries to the project: Malko Tarnovo, Zvezdets and Sredets (partners to Burgas), Gabrovnitsa (partner to Montana), Vetovo, Ivanovo and Borovo (partners to Ruse), Kuklen (partner to Plovdiv) and Ivanski (partner to Shumen)
  • Educational mediator is officially recognized as a profession and included in the National Classification of Occupations and Posts
  • Amendment proposals to the Healthcare Law were drafted; the envisaged changes may further incentivize the function with definition of a fair salary scale
  • Bulgarian languages classes provided in most of the municipalities are producing quick-win results in terms of integration in the primary education of Roma children
  • More than 4700 people increased their healthcare awareness through campaigs and consultations on different topics (reproductive health, family planning, human trafficking prevention, child health and immunization)
  • More than 400 kids had pediatric check-ups and 524 kids had medical screenings at school
  • More than 1500 women and future mothers improved their health state by passing gynecological and antenatal exams
