Skills Development Programme (SDP)

Skills development is a key driver for inclusive growth in Cambodia, but delivery is poor. Through the Skills Development Program (SDP), SDC supports the rural poor and disadvantaged youth in northern provinces to have better access to more gainful and decent employment and contributes to strengthening the TVET national regulatory framework for better inclusion, more effective deliv­ery and higher relevance of vocational skills to labour market needs.

Support to Community Forestry and Fisheries

SDC contributes to a program on Support to Community Forestry and Fisheries implemented in partnership with the Non Timber Forest Products Exchange Program. The program strengthens local communities to secure access to natural resources to improve food security and increase their income. It focuses on Kratié and Stung Treng provinces, which are rich in natural resources but where people suffer from high poverty rates.

SUPIC – Support to the Parliament in Cambodia

Established only in 1993, the Parliament in Cambodia is still a weak institution. Strengthening the Parliament, representing increasingly the interests of their constituencies will be a key driver for promoting equitable development and sustainable poverty reduction in Cambodia. Switzerland – through support to the Parliamentary Institute of Cambodia - strengthens the Parliament to adopt effective mechanisms to fulfil its legislative, representative and oversight functions.

RECOFTC: Center for People and Forests

Deforestation and forest degradation are threatening the livelihoods of the rural poor in the Mekong region. Community forestry has proven to be a sustainable way to improve  forest management, strengthen local livelihoods, and mitigate impacts of climate change. SDC supports RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests to promote community forestry throughout the Mekong region through a core contribution.

Clearing for Results 2011-2015

During the last 20 years Cambodia has made significant progress in clearing the remnants of landmine and unexploded ordinance contamination. Nevertheless 648 km2 of land remain contaminated. SDC will support the UNDP project Clearing for Results II (2011-15), implemented by the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) to release up to 75 km² of mine-free land.

Subnational Democratic Development Program (SNDD)

Cambodia has developed a 10-year Sub-national Democratic Development (SNDD) reform program. SDC supports the National Committee for Democratic Development (NCDD) in the implementation of SNDD reform program, in particular, strengthening commune and district level functionality. This will be key for ensuring sustainable poverty reduction, promoting access to better quality services as well as to ensuring social harmony and stability in the post violent conflict country. SDC joins Sida and EU in a basket fund.

Cambodian Horticulture Project Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN)

90 % of the poor in Cambodia live in rural areas and more than 40 % of the rural poor suffer from food insecurity. The increasing market demand for vegetable and fruits provides a huge opportunity for small holder farmers and processors, in particular women to increase income and food security. The Cambodia Horticulture project will support female and male farmers and processors in increasing sustainable production, income and resilience in four of the poorest provinces of Cambodia.

La governance fondiaria è al centro delle sfide per lo sviluppo in Cambogia, Laos, Myanmar e Vietnam: la concessione a investitori di terre coltivate da famiglie contadine è la principale causa della nuova povertà e dell’insicurezza alimentare. Il progetto supporta una serie di riforme in quest’ ambito ed è volto a rafforzare l’efficacia dei suoi promotori trasmettendo conoscenze, creando alleanze, promuovendo la cooperazione regionale e sostenendo politiche e pratiche più adeguate.

Kantha Bopha Hospitals Cambodia

The Kantha Bopha Hospitals in Cambodia treat 80% of severely ill children in Cambodia on an inpatient and an outpatient basis. It offers quality health care free of charge and trains Cambodian doctors as part of their university training program with 6 months internships. The KBH are usually the first ones to detect and signal epidemics which can be tackled early by health authorities. The KBH are a major partner of the Cambodian public health system.

Empowering Women Migrant Workers In Asia (EWMWA)

In Southeast Asia women who migrate for work are exposed to high risks, which range from gender-based discrimination to exploitation and severe human rights violations. UN Women’s Regional Program On Empowering Women Migrant Workers In Asia (EWMWA) aims to empower vulnerable women migrants in a gender-responsive way and to strengthen their access to effective legal protection. A specific focus in the ASEAN region includes Lao PDR, Vietnam and Cambodia as major sending countries.

Decenni di scontri bellicosi e di genocidio colpiscono soprattuto le donne e i bambini. Il programma «Seth Koma» del Fondo delle Nazioni Unite per l'infanzia (UNICEF) promuove i diritti delle donne e dei bambini nell'ambito di una riforma nazionale di democratizzazione e di decentralizzazione. Il progetto sostiene la creazione di comitati di donne a livello comunale e distrettuale. La DSC partecipa al programma con un contributo unico.
