If we keep our eyes and ears open and our minds alert, day-to-day we will be having a whole lot more fun. Dimitri de Perrot is a Swiss artist, musician, and theatre director. His primary interest lies in sound art, and his work often draws from his experience working with stage actors. His two sound-based installations, MYOUSIC and UNLESS, will open up new perspectives for the audience, allowing them to view the world in bold, new light. Dimitri has received the grant from The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia to produce and premiere UNLESS in China.

MYOUSIC

Using sound and light as its main narratives, his stage play MYOUSIC collapses the distance between the audience and performers. The audience will be immersed in a mind-blowing sensory experience which challenges the established ways of thinking, as they listen to percussion music and the sound of people crying and laughing coming in all directions in a pitch-black theatre. At the end of the day, are we the viewers or the performers – and after all, does it really matter?

UNLESS

Dimitri de Perrot’s new installation UNLESS is set to premiere in one of Hong Kong’s busiest city centre, reminding people to be mindful of those often overlooked, ordinary moments in daily life. The audience is taken on a scenic journey as they walk, sit or even lie down to listen to the music harmoniously interacting with its surrounding. It is a whimsical and almost meditative experience against the city’s hustle and bustle, allowing us to reflect our perception of speed and time and savour life’s seemingly trivial and sacred moments.

His projects and collaborations have toured internationally and had been performed around the world in the most renowned festivals and venues such as Festival d’Avignon, Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne; BAM New York, Tinguely Museum Basel, Barbican London or Centquatre Paris.
