The Embassy of Switzerland together with the Embassies of Austria, Germany and the Goethe-Institut Cyprus have the pleasure to announce the 9th edition of the "Wochen der deutschen Sprache / Weeks of the German Language!
This year’s theme, "Stimmen & Geschichten" (Voices & Stories) highlights everyday narratives and diverse perspectives shaping society, both in the German-speaking countries, as well as in Cyprus.
The festival, organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus, runs through from 10 to 29 November 2025 with an array of events - films, music, literature, culinary...

This year’s opening event:
Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey into the dessert, (Ingeborg Bachmann – Reise in die Wüste) directed by Margarethe von Trotta (2023)

A film screening followed by an exchange with film academic, Olga Kourelou and literature scholar, Marilena Zakheos relating to the famous Austrian poet, Ingeborg Bachmann and Swiss playsright, Max Frisch. The film takes us to Paris in the summer of 1958, when the two international celebrities of the literary world meet for the first time.

Tango Transit Concert: Folk Songs Reimagined - A musical Encounter between Cyprus and the German speaking World”

The acclaimed jazz trio Tango Transit will join Cypriot musicians, Ermis Michael and Vassilis Philippou and together, they will reinterpret folk melodies from Cyprus and the German-speaking world into vibrant arrangements, infused with elements of jazz, rock and funk.
