| Contesto |
The overall project objectives are to reverse the current trend of declining public transport ridership by providing a safer and more fluent public transport system and to improve the urban environment, particularly air quality and the noise level, by replacing diesel buses by trolley buses and achieving modal switches from private cars. This shall be achieved by extending the city’s trolley bus network from Bohuminska Street to Hranecnik which will turn into a multimodal interchange for trams, trolley buses and suburban buses. Five intermediate stops will be adjusted for people with reduced mobility. |
| Obiettivi |
The goal of the project is to reduce the air pollution in Ostrava by substituting diesel buses with trolley buses, to facilitate future network extensions and to enable a smooth transfer of passengers coming from regional transport to the city centre. The main project components include all necessary technical installations for electricity supply for the trolley bus line, adjustments to intermediate bus stops and road adjustments at the terminal to facilitate the access for the trolley buses. |
| Gruppi target |
The direct beneficiary is the public transport company Dopravni Podnik Ostrava which will be supported to improve their public transport infrastructure. The primary target group are the approximately 7'500 passengers/day who will benefit from more efficient and comfortable public transport services in the Hranecnik area. |
