Les Suisses et les Suissesses qui rencontrent des difficultés à l’étranger peuvent demander aide et conseil à leur représentation suisse.

Le magazine destiné aux Suisses de l’étranger paraît six fois par an. Il contient des informations sur l’actualité suisse, sur les activités des associations suisses à l’étranger ainsi que sur des questions administratives.

In cooperation with the United Nations Office at Geneva, the University of Geneva created in 2017 the Master of Advanced Studies in European and International Governance (MEIG Programme). This highly innovative programme combines academic studies together with a practical training, followed by an internship in an international organization or an in-depth study on a topic related to governance. This 10 month programme specifically addresses young professionals having previous practical experience and wishing to enhance their knowledge of European and international governance. The success of the MEIG Programme persuaded private donors to offer five full scholarships amounting to CHF 45,000 that cover the tuition fees and provide a significant contribution to the cost of living in Geneva. In addition, this foundation offers this year additionally five scholarships of CHF 20’000 as a contribution to living costs. Both types of scholarships are reserved for potential excellent participants that do not have the financial means to cover the costs linked to the programme. Furthermore, the candidates should come from ODA beneficiary countries according to the list established by the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC). The main reason for this is that international cooperation will succeed only if all parties involved have a sound knowledge of the functioning of international governance. These scholarships are, therefore, subject to the condition that recipients commit to returning to their respective countries in order to make these countries benefit from the skills acquired during the programme. The candidates are also required to actively participate and to attend the classes in Geneva from the first to the last day of the programme. If these conditions are not respected the full scholarship will have to be refunded by the participant.

The MEIG Programme is obviously also opened to candidates not requiring scholarships.

The next edition of the programme (academic year 2020-2021) will begin mid-September 2020. We would need to receive the applications of potential candidates no later than 25 December 2019.
