Visitors' Centre Africa Hall
The Africa Hall in Addis Ababa, is an iconic building, representing Africa's history, unity and culture. Approved by the UN General Assembly, a project was launched to modernize the infrastrucuture with the aim of restoring it as a state-of-the-art conference centre and tourist attraction. The building of a visitors' centre is a strategic element of the overall project intended as a gateway for the public to interact with the Africa hall and the Pan-Africanist legacy this building enshrines.

| Contesto | Built in 1960, the Africa Hall has become a landmark venue for the Pan-Africanst movement and post-colonial Africa. Now part of the UN compound in Addis Ababa, the General Assembly approved a renovation project in line with similar projects completed in New York and ongoing in Geneva. The aim of the project is to rejuvenate Africa Hall, restoring it as a modern conference facility. As part of the overall project, a visitors'centre will be opened to allow the general public access to this iconic building. |

| Gruppi target | The target group will be the visitors having access to the Africa Hall and benefitting from the enshrined history as well as the various services and offers added (e.g. permanent exhibition). Between school students, tourists, confrence delegates etc. it is estimated that up to 250'000 visitors may pass through annually. |

Outcome 1: The organizational structure and management for the running of the visitors' centre are implemented. Outcome 2: The target groups have been reached through marketing and promotion. Outcome 3: The main component of the visitors' centre have been set-up. |

Risultati principali attesi: For Outcome 1: The management of the visitors' centre has been incorporated in the responsibilities of the Publications, Confrence and Knowledge Management Division of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the terms of reference for the staffing prepared as well as the recruitment concluded. For Outcome 2: Various outreach campaigns e.g. targeted digital marketing, magazines, pamphlets and other multimedia issuances, have been concluded as well as promotional partners identified. For Outcome 3: A permanent exhibition, a space for temporary exhibitions, a lecture gallery as well as the rendering of iconic art works have been set up. Risultati fasi precedenti: N/A |
