Within the frame of her visit, Ms. Christa Markwalder met with her Georgian counterpart, Mr. David Usupashvili, and other members of Georgia’s Parliament. Both sides underlined the importance of bilateral dialogue and cooperation at parliamentary level.
The visit included a courtesy meeting with the President of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Margvelashvili. Bilateral projects in trade, economy and tourism topped the agenda of the meeting.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the parties discussed the prospects of trade and economic partnerships, focusing on the free trade agreement signed in June 2016 between Georgia and EFTA countries. Mr. Kvirikashvili also highlighted the importance of Switzerland’sdelicate role as a mediator in Georgia-Russia relations and thanked Switzerland for the development projects it implements in Georgia through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
