Policy relevant research for Development of Renewable Energy in India

Project completed

In last ten years, Government of India has made significant policy and programme interventions to enhance access to electricity by households in rural areas and to increase the share of renewable energy in the supply of electricity. However, the experiences so far indicate that to realise the full potential of renewable energy systems and to establish systems for household electricity supply innovative policies and programmes need to be developed in the coming years so that all the stakeholders (power generation companies, power distribution companies and the consumers) get organised in a win-win situation. Hence this project aims to contribute to the sustainable growth of the Renewable Energy Sector in India to enable quick and reliable access to electricity from decentralised Renewable Energy and mitigate the green house gas emissions through large grid connected Renewable Energy to lower emission intensity of Indian economy.
