Ambassador Baum presents his credentials to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck

Dr. Andreas Baum, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, presented his credentials to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at Tashichhodzong on 18th January, 2017.

While in Thimpu, the Ambassador took the opportunity to call on the Prime Minister of Bhutan Mr. Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Foreign Minister Mr. Lyonpo Damcho Dorji and Leader of the Opposition Dr. Pema Jamtsho. He also held meetings with officials at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Bhutan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Tourism Council of Bhutan, the Druk Green Power Corporation, the Bhutan-Switzerland Society and Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation.

Noting the long-standing bilateral association and friendship between Switzerland and Bhutan, and 50 years of successful bilateral cooperation with positive and tangible outcomes, the Ambassador in his meetings sought to deepen political, academic and people-to-people contacts. Highlighting the many similarities the two countries share as small mountain countries, he expressed Switzerland’s strong solidarity with Bhutan.
