Indonesia’s agricultural sector employs about one-third of the national workforce and plays a key economic role. However, commodity production—especially palm oil—faces major development challenges, including widespread rural poverty and environmental degradation.

The Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia (SLPI) aims to reconcile economic development with environmental protection in selected Indonesian palm-oil producing districts in Kalimantan and Sumatra. By bringing together local governaments, the private sector, and civil society, the SLPI contributes to reducing deforestation, land-use emissions, strengthening biodiversity conservation, and enhancing the livelihoods and economic resilience of local communities.

Principaux résultats antérieurs:  

Protection of 850,000 ha of natural ecosystems and restoration of 823 ha of degraded land.

Secure land titles granted to over 4,000 adults, improved working conditions for 2,615 employees in palm oil companies, and 5,650 farmers certified for sustainable palm oil production.

Establishment and strengthening of 10 multi-stakeholder platforms across Sumatra and Kalimantan, which have collectively approved 24 regulations and decrees, each supported by a data monitoring system to track progress.
