| Contesto |
Indonesia's path to sustainable economic development necessitates a transition to renewable energy (RE), driven by three main factors: the need to (1) bridge its electrification gap- (2) meet growing energy demands while increasing energy security- and (3) mitigate climate change. Despite the increasing importance of sustainable development and Indonesia's ambitious targets for renewable energy adoption, the sector continues to face significant hurdles. While scaling up the market for renewable energy does create more jobs, skills shortages remain a precarious issue, which is tackled by this project. |
| Obiettivi |
Renewable energy plants are better designed, planned, installed, operated, and maintained. |
| Effetti a medio termine |
1.) Formal, multidisciplinary RE specialization programs at D4 level are in place and produce labor market relevant graduates for the RE sector. 2.) Various training providers offer modular non-formal trainings in accordance with national skill standards providing skills and knowledge upgrading relevant to the RE labor market. 3.) Exchange between the RE sector and education sector, and increased understanding of RE in the general public has led to higher acceptance of RE education and training and RE in general. |

Risultati fasi precedenti: SECO's support through the Renewable Energy Skills Development project, launched in December 2020, has successfully established innovative programs in Indonesia. Five pilot polytechnics now offer a one-year specialization in renewable energy, while vocational training centers provide short courses for Solar PV and micro-hydropower Technicians. As this first phase concludes successfully, the Indonesian government would like to expand the project's reach as already planned at the beginning of the project. It shall target regions with high renewable energy potentials and focus on enhancing the quality and sustainability of existing programs at polytechnics and training centers. |
