For over 40 years, Oita city has been hosting the world’s largest wheelchair marathon competition, and this year again Swiss champions are participating.
On the occasion of the marathon and as one of the Host Towns of Switzerland on the road to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Oita will host a Swiss fair introducing Swiss music and culture. One part of the event will be a presentation of "Cybathlon", an international competition organised by ETH Zurich. Cybathlon gives the oor to competitors with disabilities who use bionic assistive technology, such as robotic prostheses, brain-computer interfaces and powered exoskeletons.
