Hungry for experience in design and architecture as well as attracted by European
post-war Modernism, Shizuko Yoshikawa, born in 1934, left Japan in 1961 to become the only female and one of few Japanese students at the famed Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm in Germany.

She later moved to Switzerland and worked as a designer for Josef Müller-Brockmann, pioneer of Swiss graphic design, whom she married in 1967. She soon turned to art and became an influentia figure in Swiss Concrete Art. Influenced by far eastern philosophy and Japanese tradition, she complements rational and systematic concepts with a poetic note, and creates her own genuine, individual art. Approximately 25 of her works will be exhibited. Produced by Lars Müller (publisher/graphic designer).
