The Ministry of Social Development had requested 1,000 blankets to respond to the needs of vulnerable families in the host communities for both Syrians and Jordanians. Save the Children Jordan made it a point, despite all challenges, to complete the distribution before the storm hit and in record time.
The campaign precedes Ambassador Sager’s visit; Head of the Swiss Agency for Development (SDC) on mission in Jordan starting 12th January. The agenda entails discussions with government representatives, UN-agencies and field visits to the host communities and Za’ataru refugee camp.
Save the Children Jordan CEO, Manal Wazani stated: “We recognize the importance of the collaboration between civil society, government bodies, and international agencies which was very evident in responding to the Snow Storm (Huda). We are very proud that the donation, procurement and delivery were managed in record time. We realize that this bitter winter of sub-zero temperatures, freezing rainand icy winds will severely affect children and that is something we are not willing to tolerate.”
