«Nuestro Mar (Our Sea) » 15 minutes
Cobbler Emilio likes to observe dancing the prima ballerina, but he never speaks to her, he's too shy. At home, he looks after his old mother and spends time with his neighbor, singer Omara Portuondo. Together, they observe the rough sea, the waves. A severe storm is approaching Havana. The film received the Best Swiss Film award at the Winterthur international film festival 2015.

Run-down rehearsal rooms along the halls of the Grand Theatre of Havana, Amanda and Viengsay dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the demanding routine their discipline requires of them: that of classical ballet. Their every step and aspiration echo the great achievements of their predecessor, Alicia Alonso, the prima ballerina assoluta, still invincible even at the grand age of 90.
About the Director
Eileen Hofer - Director/Producer
Eileen Hofer was born in 1976 in Zurich. She worked as a press officer for a film festival and then began her career as a journalist for a Swiss daily newspaper in 2005. She spent two years as chief editor of a Swiss magazine before starting off her career as a self-taught filmmaker. Her first short film, “Roots” (2008) was screened in 70 festivals (Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs) and received over 10 awards.
