Notary Ceremony
Solemn ceremony concluding the Swiss support to the Notary service Notary Chamber of Kosovo

The long-term support of Switzerland to the establishment and implementation of the notary service in Kosovo is concluded in a solemn ceremony organized by the Notary Chamber of Kosovo, on Saturday, 1 July 2017. Initiated in 2008, the project - implemented by a highly specialized team from the Institut International des Hautes Etudes Notariales (I-H-N) - initially supported the Ministry of Justice in developing the Notary Law as well as other secondary legislation, in line with international best practices. It further continued with training of the notary candidates as well with facilitating the examination and licensing of Kosovo’s first notaries. Valuable support was provided also to the establishment and functionalization of the Notary Chamber of Kosovo, which is now a member of the International Union of Notaries (UINL).

Support to the notary service is a vital initiative with a direct impact on the judicial reform in Kosovo. The functionalization of the notary service has contributed directly to decreasing the number of civil cases in courts and other institutions, increased the legal safety of commercial transactions and increased the efficiency of judicial services.

With a financial contribution of CHF 2.3 million, Switzerland is pleased to leave behind a robust and sustainable system, which shall continue to serve the needs of Kosovo’s citizen professionally.
