Selon l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS), les maladies non transmissibles (MNT) représentent la première cause de mortalité à l’échelle mondiale. En moyenne internationale, 60% des décès sont liés aux MNT.  Dans les pays à faibles et moyens revenus, ce taux est souvent beaucoup plus élevé. C’est le cas au Kirghizistan où les maladies cardiovasculaires, le cancer et le diabète sont responsables de 80% des décès.

Central Asia : Water Accountability in Transboundary Chu and Talas River Basins

Effective water resources management requires data management capacities for proper decision-making at different scales. In this context, a modern, Multi-Level Distributed Water Information Systems is a management instrument that provides stakeholders’ gateways for judicious and sustainable water resources management. The project is aiming at introducing such a modern management information system in transboundary Chu and Talas river basins to improve water accountability and transparency.

The proposed project will support democratic practices in the upcoming elections 2015-2017 (parliamentarian, municipal and presidential elections) as elections represent a major means to increase citizens’ participation in political life and of voicing their concerns regarding the achievement of the objectives of poverty alleviation and human development.

Cross-border Cooperation for Sustainable Peace and Development in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

The relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are characterized by an increasing number ot cross-border tensions caused by unfinished border demarcation and disputes on access to natural resources. The authorities recognize the risk of escalation into an open "inter-ethnic conflict", but lack resources and capacities to conduct peace-building activities at community level. The project is designed to foster cooperation and linkages in the cross-border village clusters situated in Kyrgyzstan and in Tajikistan.

Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Alai and Chon Alai Districts of Osh oblast, Kyrgyzstan

The political turmoil and conflicts in the south of the country in 2010 have unveiled the problem of unbalanced regional development. The government admits the need to develop the regions economically but lacks resources. Therefore the role of the private sector as the main driving force to generate jobs in rural areas, is important. To this end SDC has launched project on small and medium sized enterprises development in the poorest districts - Alai and Chon Alai. These two districts are known to have been engaged in the conflicts in Osh in 2010.

Les déchets hospitaliers infectieux représentent un risque potentiel sérieux, que ce soit pour les patients ou pour le personnel médical. Une gestion bien organisée et sûre des déchets de tout type est donc indispensable pour garantir la sécurité dans les établissements médicaux. Grâce à une procédure novatrice et à son faible coût, gage de durabilité, le programme de gestion des déchets sanitaires (Health Care Waste Management programme) dans les hôpitaux kirghizes connaît un grand succès.
