Contexte

While Central Asian’s start-ups and Small and Growing Businesses have the potential to be an engine for economic growth and contribute to employment opportunities, many companies operate at low profitability as they face significant challenges to starting or growing a business such as limited access to training and to financing.

Objectifs

Over a period of four years, the programme aims to increase employment and self-employment as well as leverage private sector investment by providing technical assistance and tailored financing in promising high growth firms in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Accelerate Prosperity will deliver country-tailored support in four key areas: (i) business incubation and acceleration programmes, (ii) access to financing- (iii) promotion of green businesses- (iv) and strengthened commitment to fostering regional connections.

The extended SAGE Phase 1 focused on addressing training and financing gaps in Tajikistan with an emphasis on the textile and agribusiness sectors. From 2020 to 2025, Accelerate Prosperity offered customised incubation and acceleration programmes to 54 entrepreneurs (19 women), exceeding the initial target by 64%. Among these 54 accelerated startups and SGBs, 30 received financing amounting to nearly $1’127883. These investments have so far created 220 new jobs (170 women / 77%) and sustained 668 jobs.
