More than help! Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland mark 20 years of cooperation on 19 May 2014

Twenty years ago an official cooperation agreement was signed by the Swiss and Kyrgyz Governments. To mark the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the two countries, an anniversary event will be organized on 19th of May 2014 in the Philharmonic in Bishkek.

This event will be attended by high-level officials from Switzerland, Mr. Martin Dahinden, Director-general of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and Mr. Elmar Ledergerber, President of the Swiss NGO “Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation”.

Since 1994 Switzerland has provided around CHF 300 million (around 18 billion soms) to Kyrgyzstan in the form of technical, financial and humanitarian support. Switzerland supports the transition process of the country in the sectors of health, governance, infrastructure and private sector. 

For the anniversary evening, more than 500 representatives have been invited from the government, public institutions, international organizations, embassies, NGOs, mass media and the private sector. 

The anniversary event will start at 17:30. Free entry! All interested people are welcome!
