The SDC Director-General Manuel Sager and Deputy Director Elisabeth von Capeller paid a working visit to Moldova on June 20-24. The aim of the visit was to assess the implementation of the ongoing Swiss Development Cooperation Program for Moldova in the new political, economic and social realities of the country. The conclusions of the visit will shape the strategic vision of the Swiss development assistance to Moldova for the years 2018-2021.
First Community Mental Health Centre Using FACT Officially Launched in Moldova

The Community Mental Health Centre in Cimislia, district capital in central Moldova, was officially launched on 15 September. The institution operates using a modern methodology and plays a central role within the new organization of mental health services in the district. It is the first of the four community-based mental health centres that will be opened until 2018 in Orhei, Cahul and Soroca in the frame of the project “Support to the Reform of Mental Health Services in Moldova” financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC.

At his meeting with Prime Ministers Robert Fico (Slovakia), Bohuslav Sobotka (Czech Republic), Ewa Kopacz (Poland) and Viktor Orban (Hungary) at the Visegrad summit in Bratislava, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Didier Burkhalter, and his partners adopted a declaration providing for a regular exchange of views and seeking to promote the development of joint initiatives in areas such as education, research and economic cooperation. President Burkhalter also used his stay in Bratislava to hold bilateral talks with Slovakia's President, Andrej Kiska, Prime Minister Robert Fico and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak.
