The project "Water Supply and Sewerage Lezhë and Shëngjin" is part of a broader KfW programme called "Municipal Infrastructure I". This programme concerns the improvement of the situation of water supply and sewerage disposal in the municipalities of Gjirokastra, Fier, Lezhë and Saranda. The overall objective of the Swiss Contribution is to assist Lezhë municipality in assuring a reliable hygienically safe water supply for its population with cost covering and socially affordable tariffs as well as in providing adequate settlement hygiene through wastewater disposal.

Waste Monitoring Middle Danube Inspectorate

The Middle Danube Valley Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, Nature Conservation and Water Management aims at improving quantitatively and qualitatively emissions control in order to protect the health of the population and the environment. Switzerland contributes CHF 5.078 mio. to this project that will diminish the risk of contamination of air, soil and water (namely ground water resources).

Environment Expertise Fund

The Environment Expertise Fund aims at supporting sub-projects (size: CHF 30'000 to CHF 200'000) related to (1) Enhancing planning capacities of the public administration in selected environmental areas, (2) Increasing experience and knowledge of Czech and Swiss organisations active in environmental issues and (3) Using new methods in promoting environmental protection and sustainable development. The Project will improve professional qualifications of workers employed with environmental protection and sustainable development issues and increased public awareness for these topics.

INOSTART Programme

SME financing has been identified as a priority under the Swiss-Czech Cooperation Programme. The pilot INOSTART Programme will respond to the existing gap on the Czech financial market by providing investment loans, which are backed by preferential guarantees and complemented by targeted technical assistance, to start-ups with innovative business plans. Thereby, INOSTART will increase the access to long-term finance for Czech start-up enterprises so that they can enhance their growth, innovation and ultimately their competitiveness potential.
Water Programme Zenica and Tuzla

The project, which SECO co-finances with the German Bank for Development (KfW), contributes to ensuring reliable and affordable water supply in the municipalities of Tuzla and Zenica in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. To a lesser extent the project also support the rehabilitation of the sewerage network in Zenica.

Water Supply Rehabilitation Ózd

The control system for the water supply in the municipality of Ózd is antiquated. A district with 700 to 800 households are not connected to the central water supply network. Switzerland intends to change this situation by a project contribution of CHF 7.1 million. The aim is to ensure the same level of service standard in the entire municipality, to improve the water quality, and to reduce maintenance costs.

Water Supply Rehabilitation Balassagyarmat

Switzerland is contributing CHF 4.12 million to a project in Balassagyarmat to reduce maintenance costs and ensure the reliability of water supply. Water mains and household connections with the largest number of pipe bursts will be replaced. The investments will also have a positive impact on water quality.

Water Supply Rehabilitation Érd

Switzerland supports the rehabilitation of the main water pipelines and the introduction of a new control system and a modern pumping station in Érd with a contribution of CHF 5.821 million. This will improve the reliability of the water supply and reduce maintenance cost.

Water Supply Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen

Switzerland is contributing CHF 7.803 mio. to improve the water supply network in 11 municipalities of the subregion Borsod-Abaúd Zemplén. Additionally, a water supply network will be introduced in two settlements that are so far only partly or not at all connected to a network.
