Albania: Leave No One Behind

The vulnerable population of Albania, primarily Roma and people with disabilities, will benefit from equal and dignified access to services and resources. Currently, the needs of these people are not met by the social protection system. Albania has developed a social policy framework in the past years which the Swiss support continues to improve. The project supports the implementation at municipal level. The project will be implemented by the UN using the Delivery as One approach.


Programme d’appui au système de santé du Sud Kivu (PASS Sud-Kivu)

Cette phase de consolidation des acquis est la dernière du Programme d’Appui au Système de Santé au Sud Kivu. L’appui systémique délocalisé promu par la Suisse vise à renforcer durablement le système de santé dans son ensemble, afin de le rendre plus efficient, résilient et équitable. Grâce à une meilleure gouvernance du système et au renforcement de la qualité des services, l’état de santé de près de 3 millions de personnes sera amélioré.


Financial contribution to the World Bank Trust Fund Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI)

Switzerland is supporting the newly created Trust Fund Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI). Through coordination and providing quality services, the GEI aims at strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems in developing countries for improved evidence-based policy making for better achieving national and global (SDGs) goals. Switzerland is committed to provide access to its partner countries and partner organizations to this initiative.


PRODEL - Program for strengthening municipal capacities for local development

PRODEL III contributes to the decentralization reform through introducing its municipal autonomy approach into new laws and policies, through training of “multipliers” and creation of advisory services to extend its tool of Municipal Development Strategy to more municipalities. The EDM strengthens municipal autonomy and efficient use of local resources for production infrastructure and services, while promoting participation and inclusion.


Territorial water governance in the Gulf of Fonseca Region - phase II

The Program facilitates the empowerment of the Watershed Councils of the Nacaome, Choluteca and Sampile rivers in the Gulf of Fonseca Region in terms of their leadership and sustainable and participatory management of the water governance system. This contributes to collaborative processes and investments in the frame of the formulation and implementation of watershed plans, indirectly benefiting 500,000 inhabitants.


CORIGAP: Closing Rice Yield Gaps in Asia

SDC supports the International Rice Research Institute and national research and extension partners in six countries in Asia (China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam) to develop quantitative tools and methods to optimize the sustainability of irrigated systems in order to enhance regional food security while minimizing the environmental footprint of rice production. Through this contribution, Switzerland has initiated the development of sustainable rice production indicators which are now adopted by more than 100 private and public organisations.


Support to Parliamentary Centre of Asia

The Parliamentary Centre of Asia (PCAsia) builds the capacities of Parliaments in ASEAN countries in particular Cambodia and Laos plus Myanmar if the situation allows (CLM) to promote democratic accountability in the region. Complemented by the technical assistance of the Swiss Parliamentary Services (SPS), the Swiss contribution to PCAsia will support the capacity building of professional, non-partisan, ethical and accountable parliamentary services.


Jigjiga One Health Initiative Phase 2 (JOHI2)

The Jijiga One Health Initiative aims to develop a trans-disciplinary centre of excellence on pastoralist health within the Jijiga University (Somali Region, Ethiopia). Community-based one-health research and pilot interventions, including contribution to COVID-19 prevention and response, as well as targeted policy influencing will contribute to improved health among pastoralist communities and reduce pressure for their displacement/migration, which is in the interest of Switzerland.  


Asian Development Fund (AsDF - 13) - replenishment 2021 - 2024

01.04.2021 - 31.12.2024

The AsDF is a multi-donor fund and provides non-repayable grants to the poorer member countries of the AsDB. The AsDF contributes to reducing poverty and improving living conditions in the poorest regions and countries most affected by natural disasters and conflict situations. Switzerland participation in the AsDF is complementary to its bilateral development programs in the region and contributes to the achievement of the agenda 2030 for sustainable development.


Futuro Microbank

Limited access to financial services is a key constraint of rural micro and small women and men entrepreneurs (including farmers) to develop their business and to generate employment and income. The Swiss supported Banco Futuro is successfully providing affordable financial services to rural entrepreneurs (80% women), thus allowing them to enhance business and livelihood opportunities

Training for Skills and Employment (T4SE)

The main goal of the Training for Skills and Employment project is to create work opportunities for rural youth by strengthening their professional skills as well as advocating for an improved legal framework for Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training in the country. SDC’s contribution aims to support training provision through engaging with the private sector, which will allow young people to acquire marketable[1] skills leading to formal or self-employment and consequently increased productivity.

 

[1] Marketable skills are those which are in demand and can respond to existing and previously identified market opportunities.


Resilience for Pastoralist Communities in Northern Kenya

01.03.2021 - 31.07.2025

Pastoralism is a millennia old livelihood strategy adapted to the marginal and harsh environ-ments of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL). In order to support pastoralists, this programme contributes to strengthening public and private institutions in the water and livestock sectors, putting policy frameworks in place to ensure efficient county-wide and cross-border water and rangeland management systems, and to increase access to water and pasture.
