La décentralisation permet une meilleure transparence et efficacité dans la gestion des affaires publiques locales. Elle facilite la prise en main des actions de développement par les citoyens. Depuis 2006, le Burkina Faso est organisé en 351 communes et en 13 régions avec actuellement 18'525 élu(e)s locaux, qui manquent de ressources et de capacités pour répondre à leurs responsabilités et aux besoins des citoyens. La Suisse accompagne des communes et 3 régions à jouer leur rôle de fournisseurs de services publics et à mieux gérer les affaires locales dans l’intérêt des communautés.

Strengthening Policy and Practice for Land Governance

In the rapid transition to a democratic market economy, control over land is at the centre of a struggle between smallholder farmer-based and industry-led agricultural growth. This project works with both government and civil society to create institutions and practices that increase smallholder farmer land tenure security, including for women and ethnic minorities, through improved access to information and increased capacities, knowledge and skills.
Promoting physical activity and healthy diet through regulatory measures (ProPDR)

Non-communicable diseases constitute one of the major global health challenges today. Unhealthy diet and physical inactivity are the main causes of obesity and related morbidities. The adaptation of national regulatory and legislative frameworks is critical for the prevention and control of Non-communicable diseases. This initiative strives to strengthen capacity and expertise of low- and middle income countries to implement legal and regulatory measures.
Strengthening democratic local governance

The project aims at supporting the democratic transition and the peace efforts in Myanmar. Using a decentralized budget support approach to all townships of one state in the Southeast of the country, it will strengthen township’s participatory planning and budgeting capacity. The project will also deepen the community’s capacity to demand public services. Additionally it will support national level policy discussions based on this experience.
Sustainable Natural Resources Management (NRM) for Enhanced Pastoralist Food Security in the Borana Zone, Ethiopia.

Natural resources, particularly water and pasture, are among the key determinants of pastoralist livelihoods’ sustainability. The proposed Project contributes to the outcomes of the SDC’s Food Security Domain as stipulated in the Swiss Cooperation Strategy Horn of Africa. It aims at improving pastoralist food security and adaptive capacities in the lowlands of Borana Zone, Southern Ethiopia, through enhancing the sustainable management of natural resources.
Building Regional and National capacities for improved Migration Governance in the IGAD Region

The Horn of Africa is of high interest for Switzerland in terms of migration policy. Swiss support to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and its Member States will contribute to improve their migration governance capacities so as to enable the organisation to effectively implement regional, continental and global regulatory standards for the protection of refugees and vulnerable migrants in the region.

By supporting the provision of quality mental health through Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, Switzerland contributes to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable people in the Gaza Strip, where distress, psychological and psychiatric problems continue to increase after more than a decade of closure, traumatic conflicts and the degradation of socio-economic conditions. Addressing distress and traumas contributes to the prevention of radicalisation.

Supported by a broad donor platform, U4 is providing to development practitioners publicly available research products as well as specific in-country workshops with development-relevant stakeholders. Thus U4 contributes to anti-corruption efforts that are key for sustainable development.

In Egypt, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) are the key actors in responding to migrant’s basic needs. The aim of this program is to strengthen the CBOs through organizational capacity development and network building. Somalia - Inclusive and accountable governance

In 2012, a comprehensive state-building process along federalist principles started in Somalia. The project will contribute to a more inclusive, accountable and equitable governance system by focusing on the constitutional review process and strengthening the parliamentarians’ capacities. It will promote knowledge sharing, exchange of Somali, Swiss and international expertise, and public discourse to foster Somali-led and owned governance arrangements.

The Asia South Pacific association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) is an influential civil society network engaged in the promotion and provision of inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning for the most marginalized populations in Asia. It is also a key civil society representative in the global education dialogue. SDC’s partnership with ASPBAE contributes strengthening the voice and capacity of the civil society for the right to education both at global level and in the countries where SDC is present in Asia.
Fair and ethical recruitment of migrant workers

Approximately 105 million people are currently working outside their country of origin. Many of these migrant workers have profited from international labour recruitment intermediaries. Millions, however, have become victims of abusive and exploitative practices by unethical recruiters. Working together with different actors, SDC will support initiatives to ensure fair and ethical recruitment. Migrants and their families will be better protected and thereby better enabled to contribute to the development of their countries of origin and destination.
