Swiss contribution of CHF 18.12 million to Government of Nepal for safer and informed labour migration

An agreement was signed between the Governments of Switzerland and Nepal, whereby the Swiss Government has agreed to provide CHF 18.12 million as a grant assistance to the Nepali Government to implement the Safer Migration Project in Nepal. This is the third phase of the project. 

The project will run from 16 September 2018 to 15 July 2022 and it will focus its support to the local governments to deliver migration related services, such as to provide relevant and accurate information to aspiring migrants and their families, vocational skills trainings, legal support, financial literacy to migrants and their families as well as psychosocial counseling to families in distress. The project will be implemented in 39 selected districts of Nepal.

The Agreement to this effect were signed and exchanged between H.E. Elisabeth Von Capeller, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal and Dr. Rajan Khanal, Secretary, Ministry of Finance on behalf of their respective governments on 5th September 2018.
