| Hintergrund |
Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) play a vital role in the Macedonian economy. Official data on MSME activity is limited though it is estimated that they account for almost 75 per cent of total employment in the Macedonia. Most MSMEs operate in agribusiness and manufacturing, and benefit from their competitive advantage of providing good quality products and services at a relatively inexpensive price. Nonetheless, MSME growth is constrained particularly by a lack of management and enterpreneurial skills as well as limited coordiantion when it comes to local economic growth initiatives. |
| Ziele |
The overall goal of the programme is to enhance economic growth of Macedonia. To do so, the programme will foster enterpreneurship, i.e. support enterpreneurs in better managing their business activities, and increase the quality of local growth initiatives, i.e. bring together all relevant stakeholders such as the private sector, local governments as well as the business support industry. The ultimate aim is to stimulate growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and thus spur job creation at scale. |
