Strengthening national statistical capacities helps monitor the national developmental plans of the oPt. Credible, transparent and comprehensive statistics are key to the development of a democratic society. The availability of reliable data for planning and monitoring purposes is central for the State, the civil society, the legislative council, private sector, and academics. At the same time this data helps ensure accountability.
