Rehabilitation of Drinking Water Supply in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after the Floods 2010

Project completed

Drinking water analysis and assessments of water sources show that most water supply systems or wells are unreliable and of insufficient quality to ensure suitable drinking water in KPK. Even after disinfection the risk of recontamination is high because of inadequate protection and poor sanitation. In addition, knowledge about source protection, water treatment and proper hygiene is missing. As a result, water-borne diseases are prevailing in the province. With an intervention for the rehabilitation and protection of water sources, as well as capacity building measures for the community (maintenance) and households (water treatment and hygiene), SDC-HA can improve access to safe drinking water. This project is a follow-up of the previous project of “Well Cleaning in Flood-Affected Areas of Pakistan”.
