| Background |
The Peruvian Government has initiated cadastral reforms as it recognizes the key-role of cadastre systems for the further development of the country. However, the vast majority of Peruvian local governments lack the technical and financial capacities to operate and maintain an updated cadastre system and to use cadastral information for better municipal service provision. The proposed project is key to address and sustainably overcome these obstacles. |
| Objectives |
The project seeks to strengthen capacities of 22 municipal governments to use cadastral information for a sustainable urban planning, improved disaster risk management and increased tax revenues. The project focuses on capacity building of national and local governments and lays the technical groundwork to further enhance the sustainability and interoperability of urban cadastres. The World Bank implements the project and links it closely to a World Bank loan project, which will establish the cadastre systems and update cadastre information in selected municipalities. Additional accompanying measures will ensure integration of internationally acknowledged Swiss expertise and Swiss innovation. |
